Wild Alaskan Salmon Fishing Charters in Sitka
Fish the waters that Sitka locals know best.
Sitka, Alaska is one of Southeast Alaska’s premier destinations for saltwater salmon fishing, and there’s no better way to experience it than from a boat with a local captain. Sitka Sea Level Adventures is a locally owned, family-run fishing charter offering guided salmon fishing trips for first-time anglers, families, cruise ship visitors, and experienced fishermen.
Our primary targets are King (Chinook) and Coho (Silver) salmon, with opportunities for other Pacific salmon and rockfish depending on the season, regulations, and conditions. We troll productive waters around Sitka Sound and the outer coast, adjusting our approach to the weather, tides, bait, and where the fish are moving.
You don't need years of fishing experience to join us. We'll provide the fishing gear, show you how to fish these waters, and work with you throughout the trip. Your job is simple: enjoy the scenery, watch the rods, and be ready when a salmon hits.
Book your Sitka salmon fishing charter and get out on the water with a captain who calls these waters home.

What Will We Fish For?
Sitka's surrounding waters support all five species of Pacific salmon: King, Coho, Sockeye, Chum, and Pink salmon. The species available to target vary throughout the season, and our primary focus on charter trips is typically King and Coho salmon.
Depending on the season, regulations, and conditions, there may also be opportunities to catch rockfish, black bass, lingcod, and other species.
Because we're fishing in the ocean, every day is different. Fish move, weather changes, and conditions can shift. That's part of what makes Alaska fishing an adventure—and why having a captain who knows Sitka's waters matters.
A Local Fishing Charter in Sitka
Sitka Sea Level Adventures is owned and operated by lifelong Sitka locals Jaren and Brody Sumauang. We've spent our lives on Southeast Alaska's waters, and fishing isn't simply something we offer visitors—it's part of how we know and experience this place.
When you fish with us, you're not stepping onto a generic excursion boat. You're heading out with a local captain who understands Sitka's coastline, weather, tides, fishing grounds, and the realities of fishing in Southeast Alaska.
We keep our charters small, with a maximum of 6 guests, so there's room to fish, move around, ask questions, and actually spend time with your captain.
Fishing in Sitka Is About More Than the Fish
The fishing is the reason you're on the boat, but it's not the only thing you'll experience.
Sitka sits on the outer coast of Baranof Island, where the Pacific Ocean meets the islands, bays, forests, and mountains of Southeast Alaska. While we're trolling for salmon, you'll be surrounded by the scenery that makes this part of Alaska so special.
Keep an eye out for whales, sea otters, sea lions, bald eagles, seabirds, and other wildlife along the way. Wildlife sightings aren't guaranteed on a fishing charter, but they are a natural part of spending a day on Sitka's waters.
Fishing Charters for Beginners and Experienced Anglers
Never fished in Alaska before? That's okay.
You don't need to arrive with your own equipment or know how to troll for salmon. We provide the fishing gear and walk you through what you need to know before and during the trip.
Experienced anglers are welcome, too. If you've been fishing Alaska for years, you'll appreciate having a local captain who can adjust the approach to the conditions and help you make the most of your time on the water.
Our goal is to create a fishing trip that feels productive, relaxed, and fun—not intimidating.

Client Reviews
“Had an incredible time catching kings. We were able to put 4 nice kings in the boat for the trip, all of which we shipped back to FL. (Not cheap but that was expected) Jaren was waiting for us at the dock for a quick and easy ride out to the fishing grounds in Biorka. Great guy, knowledgeable and fun to fish with. Would definitely book again.
Also, the boat was sweet. Has a sound system. Don’t be afraid be your own DJ and jam some tunes while you’re out there slamming the fish!”- Jay B.
